AREMA BYU Student Chapter takes 2nd Place in 2014 AREMA Annual Conference

Four members of the AREMA (American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-way Association) BYU Student Chapter attended the AREMA 2014 Annual Conference & Exposition held in Chicago from September 28 to October 1. Chapter members attended the annual AREMA conference for the first time. AREMA started the Quiz Bowl (a jeopardy-type quiz tournament, just like the ITE’s Traffic Bowl) from this year for the student chapter members to compete. The BYU team beat other large, established AREMA student chapters, like Michigan Tech and Virginia Tech, and won the 2nd place in the Quiz Bowl only behind the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign! Considering that BYU’s AREMA student chapter was founded in May 2013, this is a great achievement. (Reported by Dr. Saito, Faculty advisor for the chapter)
