Graduates and students from the Transportation Group had a BYU reunion during the Transportation Research Board 95th Annual Meeting on January 10 – 14, 2016, in Washington, DC.
Dr. Saito organized a BYU reunion for graduates and students of the Transportation Group. The event took place at Bolt Hamburgers near the Annual Meeting venue, the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, on Monday, January 11, 2016. This year fourteen graduates and students were able to come to this event, it was the largest attendance we have had so far since we started the reunion a few years ago. All our transportation professors (Dr. Saito, Dr. Guthrie and Dr. Schultz) were able to attend as well. Some of these students have obtained a doctorate degree or are pursuing a doctorate degree either at BYU or at some other institution. Others are either currently in a MS program at BYU or other institutions or have finished their master’s degree with us and are currently working for consultants. We are proud of them! Four other graduates were expected to attend the TRB Annual Meeting but they were not able to come to the reunion due to scheduling conflicts: Dr. Mike Lowry of University of Idaho, Dr. Salvador Hernández of Oregon State University, Carol Boulgaris (in a PhD program at UCLA) and Dr. Greg Macfarlane of Georgia Tech. The BYU Transportation Program continues to produce many potential future faculty members for the program. Reported by Dr. Saito.
