Welcome to WE!

WHAT IS WE@BYU?

Having the right resources can ensure your success in a technical discipline. WE@BYU: Women in Engineering and Technology is an organization that supports you both as a student and in the future. WE@BYU hosts activities, connects you to resources, and provides you with the tools you need to excel.

Who are we? We are just like you—women striving to use our talents to reach out and improve the world. Continue reading to meet a few women who demonstrate what WE can do to innovate, lead, connect, serve, and inspire.

WE@BYU Spotlight

Cassie Sweeten

Cassie Sweeten is a junior studying Mechanical Engineering here at BYU. She also serves as the SWE President this year!

Here are some things about herself that Cassie told us:

"My favorite food is probably Swedish Tacos. I served my mission in Sweden, and it’s pretty much like a normal taco on a soft tortilla, with the normal toppings along with cucumber, bell pepper, pineapple, cheesey chips, and best of all, banana.

"I really like to try new things, so my hobbies vary quite often. The main hobbies this summer would include reading, biking, and playing softball with my team at work or at home with my husband.

"Being a mechanical engineer has given me confidence and opened so many doors for me. I enjoy breaking the stereotypes and surprising others when I tell them what I do. I’ve learned to look at the world in a different way, realizing where I need to learn more to understand something.

"The most important thing I have learned from BYU would be to work hard. I wouldn’t be able to do well at BYU in the ME program without an ability to buckle down, work hard and use my time wisely. I think that those skills will apply in my life with anything that I decide to pursue. I’ve learned to dream big because I can do great things. BYU shapes me into a better person each day that I let it."
