Henry Kohlbrand, 2010 president of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), will deliver the Ira A. Fulton College lecture Feb. 3 at 11 a.m. in 140 JSB.
His lecture, entitled "Megatrends -- Shaping the Future of Engineering and Engineering Technology", will discuss how business trends such as globalization, sustainability, and changing business models combined with key megatrends such as energy, water, infrastructure, transportation and health/nutrition will greatly impact the future roles of engineers and engineering technologists.
In addition to serving as president of AIChE, a global professional community for over 40,000 chemical engineers in 93 countries, Kohlbrand is a recently retired executive from The Dow Chemical Company. During his 36+ year career at Dow, he served in a number of technical leadership positions involving process technology, new business development, intellectual asset management and external innovation. He has worked and lived outside of the U.S. and led global teams in a variety of areas. Kohlbrand has made significant technical contributions to the areas of sustainable engineering, process safety, and process development.
He is a Fellow of AIChE, an Honorary Fellow of IChemE (Institution of Chemical Engineers), a member of ACS (Amerian Chemical Society) and AAAS (American Association for the Advancement of Science). He received a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology and has completed an executive management program at Babson College.
