Global Leadership Model

Three Fundamental Dimensions

The Ira A. Fulton College of Engineering and Technology has crafted and adopted a Global Leadership model as a guide for development of student capabilities. The college model, illustrated as intersecting circles in the figure below, focuses on three fundamental dimensions of leadership:

1.      The leader as an individual: This dimension, labeled Personal Characteristics, is focused on the foundational characteristics that an individual leader must build and cultivate.
2.      The leader in an organization: This dimension, labeled Organizational Skills, is focused on the basic skills that an effective leader must understand and implement in organizations.
3.      The leader in a global system: This dimension, labeled Global and Cultural Perspective, is focused on the perspectives and knowledge that an influential leader in today’s global setting must develop.

Student learning outcomes have been defined for each of the leadership dimensions described above. These outcomes have been carefully chosen to define the characteristics and skills of a graduate who is on a trajectory towards global leadership competency.
