Jeffery Campbell, the chair of BYU’s Facility Management program, became one of only 65 facility management professionals to ever receive the title of “Fellow” in the organization’s 25 year history. Of this year’s five recipients, he is also the only educator to accept the honor.
“I have always had a great amount of respect for the accomplishments of those before me who have been chosen as fellows,” Campbell said. “So I’m thrilled to receive the honor but, I’m especially excited for what it says about our program.”
Each year, about 5,000 of IFMA’s 18,000 members worldwide, attend a convention where new fellows are chosen and honored for their outstanding record of service in the profession. As a fellow, Campbell will act as an ambassador and advisor for IFMA.
When Campbell first joined BYU in 1997, the facilities management program had an enrollment of just 23 students. His leadership has helped advance the program to an enrollment of more than 130 students with nearly a 100 percent job placement rate upon graduation.
Campbell has more than 20 years of experience in construction and facility management and in 2003, IFMA honored him as its distinguished educator of the year.
“Being named a fellow really speaks of his leadership and expertise,” said Tom Erekson, director of the BYU School of Technology. “Jeff has done amazing things for the program.”
